The Ronald McDonald House
The January and June Classes of 1963 from the East St. Louis Sr. High School [Illinois] wanted to do something everlasting for their 50th High School Graduation Celebration…present a Helping Hand Lifetime Award to the Ronald McDonald House at Children’s Hospital so that the RMH may be able to continue the great work they have done for more than 30,000 families across the US and around the world. Reunion Chairperson Sandy Smith presented the Helping Hand Lifetime Award check for $1,000; and the class of ‘63 also tossed in an in-kind award of 300 laminated bookmarks [value $600]. Members of the 50th Reunion Committee include: Sandy Smith [Chairperson], JoAnn Campo, Shirley Garnto, Don Giger, Sandy Gros, Charles Hueseman, Marie Johnson, Ruth Renner, Donald Schlonat, Ruby Simmons, Darwin Turley, and Barbara Williams……“Nothing brings us more happiness than helping the most vulnerable people in society – the children. It is a goal/a passion and an essential part of our lives - a sort of destiny” said the class of ‘63 spokesperson when presenting the award to Judy Schuler, RMH Manager.
